  2.10 'glo', 'gla', 'gle' and 'gli' at the beginning of a word

If 'gl' is followed bei 'o', 'a', 'u', 'e' it is pronounced as expected. The 'g' remains 'g' as in the English word good and the 'l' remains l as in luck.

Examples
inglese = English
globo = globe
gladiolo = gladiolus
gleba = clod

If by chance you ask yourself now how 'gl' is pronounced if followed by a consonant, your thoughts have gone too far because such a combination doesn't exist and is practically impossible, because something like 'glk', 'glm', 'glb' etc. can't be pronounced.
