This chapter is an Italian survival guide. That means that we are going to present the basics of the Italian grammar in one chapter, but in a cursory way. All the topics touched here we are going to discuss again in the following chapters. This chapter allows you to have an overview of the whole system. And, having an overview of the whole grammar, without the details, is crucial in the process of learning a language. If you have an overview of the whole system you have a good passive understanding (reading / hearing). It is preferable to have an overview without details than being an expert on only one topic. In a real live situation you are always confronted with the whole system, any Italian you are going to speak to is going to use more than one or two grammatical structures.
