13.6.8 exercise 8: anteriority and posteriority of the gerund
It doesn't matter whether the gerundio is a modal adverbial adjunct or a subordinate clause (modal clause, causal clause, concessive clause, if clause) the anchor is always the finite verb. The action / event described by the gerund happened before, at the same time or after the events described by the finite verb. Therefore, there must exist also two kinds of gerundios, one that described the event / actions as something that happened before the events / actions described by the finite verb and another one that describes these events as something that happens at the same time or after. Select in the following sentences the correct form in the given context.
