Pinocchio si rimette in cammino, ma sulla strada incontra prima un serpente e poi rimane imprigionato in una tagliola

Felice per la libertà riconquistata Pinocchio si mette alla ricerca del padre e della Fata Turchina, pieno di buoni propositi e pentito delle sue monellerie. La sua strada è però bloccata da un enorme Serpente dall’aria minacciosa. Il nostro burattino attende per qualche ora che questo si sposti, ma tutto è inutile. Pinocchio pensa quindi che l’animale sia morto, ma appena sta per scavalcarlo il Serpente reagisce ed egli cade con la testa nel fango. Alla vista del burattino cha sgambetta a gambe all’aria il serpente comincia a ridere così tanto che poco dopo muore. Pinocchio allora prosegue e spinto dalla fame, entra in un campo per rubare un po’ d’uva. La scelta è però poco saggia: al primo salto infatti egli rimane prigioniero in una trappola per faine. Disperato Pinocchio chiede aiuto a un piccola Lucciola, che però inizia immediatamente a rimproverarlo per essere venuto a rubare nel campo altrui.

In desperation, Pinocchio asks a little firefly for help, which immediately accuses him of having come to steal someone else's property.
