Pinocchio torna a casa della Fata Turchina che gli promette che dal giorno seguente non sarà più un burattino, ma un ragazzo come tutti gli altri

Pinocchio morto di paura è pronto ad accettare la sua fine, quand’ecco che riappare il cane Alidoro, appena salvato dal mare. Il mastino è affamato e chiede al pescatore un po’ di frittura: l’uomo rifiuta e appena il cane riconosce Pinocchio, si getta su di lui per salvarlo. Usciti dalla casa del pescatore i due si salutano amichevolmente e il burattino entra in una capanna in cerca d’ aiuto. All’uomo che qui incontra chiede notizie del compagno di scuola rimasto ferito e scopre che questi, sano e salvo, è già tornato a casa. Purtroppo oltre a questa bella notizia, viene anche a sapere che tutti lo credono colpevole del fatto. Pinocchio allora procede fino alla casa della Fata e bussa nella speranza di essere accolto. Gli risponde allora una Lumaca, che gli comunica che la fata non vuole essere disturbata, ma che elle stessa può scendere ad aprirgli. Pinocchio è in un primo momento contento della notizia, ma poi cambia idea: la Lumaca infatti impiega ben nove ore a scendere le scale. Nel frattempo Pinocchio ha perso completamente la pazienza e, presa a calci la porta, vi rimane incastrato. A questo punto la Lumaca è ormai scesa e, visto l’accaduto, propone di tornare di sopra per chiamare un falegname che possa liberarlo. Il burattino, disperato, chiede alla Lumaca di portargli almeno qualcosa da mangiare, ma durante l’attesa cade svenuto. Al suo risveglio si ritrova in casa della Fata che gli preannuncia che da domani sarà un bambino come tutti gli altri.

But the dog has hardly recognized Pinocchio when he lunges at him to save him. After leaving the fisherman's house, the two say goodbye amicably and the wooden doll goes to a hut to ask for help. He asks the man he finds there what happened to his schoolmate who was injured and learns that he is already back home safe and sound. Unfortunately, in addition to this good news, he also learns that everyone thinks he is the culprit of the incident. Pinocchio continues on his way to the fairy's house and knocks on the door, hoping to be heard. A snail answers him, telling him that the fairy doesn't want to be disturbed, but that she will go down to open it for him. Pinocchio is initially pleased with this news, but then changes his mind: the snail actually needs nine hours to climb down the stairs. Meanwhile, Pinocchio has completely lost his patience. After kicking the door in, he gets stuck in the door. At that moment, the snail has arrived below and, having seen what has happened, suggests getting a carpenter to free him. The wooden doll, in desperation, begs the snail to at least get him something to eat, but faints while he is waiting. When he wakes up, he finds himself in the house of the fairy, who predicts that tomorrow he will be a boy like everyone else.
