Gli altri due s'attardarono ancora in complimenti prima di varcare la soglia, e Mario ebbe il tempo di studiare la persona tanto importante che vedeva per la prima volta. Non l'avrebbe rivista più, ma mai più la dimenticò.

Mario non pensò che quello di tenersi rigidi era un modo di soffocare un imperioso bisogno di ridere, ma ricordò invece che la rigidezza era propria di codesta categoria di persone, gli agenti di commercio, che vogliono apparire qualche cosa che non sono e che se non sorvegliassero tradirebbero il loro vero essere.

Mario didn't consider that the stiff posture was a way of stifling the urge to burst out laughing.
